Prices, the opening calendar, the train from Paris, who comes into the cellars and the age rules. Ready for your Veuve Clicquot booking? The answers below settle most of what you need first.
Two answers matter more than the rest. First, does your fare name the house: most do and carry its ticket, but a few Champagne days only promise a famous house such as Veuve Clicquot. Then, where your day starts: a Paris hotel, the TGV, or the Reims station forecourt at 9:20 am. Every tour card tells you both before you click.
Can you visit Veuve Clicquot without a tour?
Yes. The house sells its own cellar tours at the visit centre, 1 rue Albert Thomas in Reims, from EUR 36 for an hour with the Brut Yellow Label. Book on the house's website and take the TGV to Reims. A tour earns its fare with a second producer, lunch, the vineyards and a driver.
How much is a Veuve Clicquot cellar tour?
The house publishes five, per person: EUR 36 for an hour with the Brut Yellow Label, EUR 60 for an hour on blended rosé, EUR 80 for an hour and a half, EUR 160 for two hours on ageing, and EUR 260 for four hours with La Grande Dame. The three longer ones can be booked for your party alone.
How much is a Veuve Clicquot tour from Paris?
Private days that name the house run $521 to $996 per person, the house ticket included. The shared days are $645 by TGV with lunch, or $648 by minibus. Champagne days that only may include the house start at $376.
Do all Veuve Clicquot tours visit Veuve Clicquot?
No. A few Champagne days visit a famous house such as Veuve Clicquot, Mumm or Moët & Chandon, depending on availability, and their cards say House may vary. Even the fares that name the house note that it caps visitor numbers and another house may be offered if it is full.
Is Veuve Clicquot open all year?
No. The house closed from 28 December 2025 to 7 April 2026. It opens Tuesday to Sunday in spring and autumn, every day from 29 June to 30 August, and Wednesday to Sunday from 4 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Nothing later is published yet.
Where is Veuve Clicquot?
At the Visit Center Saint-Pétersbourg, 1 rue Albert Thomas, 51100 Reims. By the house's own figures it is a 30-minute walk from the city centre and a 10-minute drive from Champagne-Ardenne TGV station.
What are the house's opening hours?
9:30 am to 5:30 pm on open days. It closes on 1 May, 25 December and 1 January, and on the weekdays its seasonal calendar leaves out, so check the day before you plan around it.
How do you get there from Paris?
Take the TGV from Paris Gare de l'Est to Reims, 45 minutes by Reims Tourisme's figure. From the centre, take a taxi, the Citybus to the stop named Veuve Clicquot, or walk for about 30 minutes. Or book a day with pickup at your Paris hotel.
Is lunch included on the tours?
On the shared days from Reims station, on À La Française's private day from Reims and on the TGV day from Paris. Most private days from Paris leave lunch to you, and Le Tour de Vigne books a table you pay for yourself.
Does a guide come into the cellars with you?
The house's own guide leads every cellar tour. On the chauffeur-driven private days from Paris your driver waits outside and is not a guide. The shared days and the other private days put a guide with you all day.
How long does a tour take?
The house's own cellar tours last one to four hours. Days from Reims run 8 to 9 hours. Days from Paris run 7 to 12.5 hours door to door, about four of them on the road.
Is there a minimum age?
The house publishes none. Each operator sets its own: tastings are for 18 and over on most fares, and Clewel lets minors join the cellar tour. À La Française takes no child under 4 on its shared day and none under 10 on its private day.
Is the house wheelchair accessible?
The house says its visit, boutique and café are accessible to people with reduced mobility if you say so when you book. On request at reception, wheelchairs and strollers can go down into the cellars. Some tours mark their vehicle accessible too, and each operator can confirm it before you book.
Can you cancel a tour?
Most refund in full if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead. A few need three days' notice and a few are non-refundable, so each card states its own policy.
Can you eat at the visit centre?
Yes. Café Clicquot, open since March 2023, serves from 11 am to 5 pm without reservations. It follows the cellars' seasonal calendar.
How cold are the cellars?
A constant 10 to 12 °C, away from light and vibration, by the house's own figure. Bring a warm layer even in August.
What are the crayères?
The crayères are chalk pits reused as cellars. The house settled into 482 of them on the edge of Reims in 1909, and they were listed by UNESCO in 2015 with the Saint-Nicaise hill.
Who was Madame Clicquot?
Madame Clicquot was Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, widowed in 1805, who took over the house weeks later. The house credits her with the first riddling table in 1816 and the first blended rosé in 1818.
Did Madame Clicquot invent rosé champagne?
Not rosé champagne as such, and the phrase "invented rosé champagne" goes further than the house does. It claims the first blended rosé, made in 1818 by adding red wine from Bouzy to the blend.
Did Dom Pérignon invent champagne?
No. champagne.fr says champagne wasn't invented by anyone, so "invented champagne" is a legend. Dom Pérignon was cellarer of the Hautvillers abbey from 1668 until 1715, and tours stop at his tomb in the church of Saint-Sindulphe.
What is La Grande Dame?
The house's prestige cuvée, launched in 1972 for its 200th anniversary. It ages at least seven years, and the house's EUR 260 four-hour tour is built around it.
Who owns Veuve Clicquot?
It has been part of LVMH since 1986, by the house's own history. It was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot.
Can you book a private cellar tour at the house?
Yes. The longer visits, at EUR 80, EUR 160 and EUR 260, can be privatised through the house's private tours desk. Private events for larger groups are priced separately.
What is the Veuve Clicquot picnic?
A rosé picnic at the Manoir de Verzy, the house's vineyard estate, Friday to Sunday in summer. The 2026 season ran from 5 June to 31 August, plus 4 and 5 September, at EUR 88 an adult.
What is the harvest luncheon?
A lunch at the Manoir de Verzy on two Saturdays in harvest time: 12 and 19 September in 2026, both now past. It cost EUR 132 an adult.
Which Reims station should you use?
Reims Centre for the tours' meeting point on the station forecourt. Champagne-Ardenne TGV lies at Bezannes, linked to the centre by tram, and is a 10-minute drive from the house.
Where do the Reims tours meet?
The shared days meet in front of the tourist office on the Reims Centre station forecourt, Cour de la Gare, at 9:20 am. The private days from Reims collect you in Reims, or in Épernay on one.
Is there parking at the house?
Yes: 20 car spaces and 5 coach spaces at the visit centre. There is also a drop-off point in front of reception for taxis, and a space for bicycles.
Can you bring a dog?
No. No animals are allowed anywhere in the visit centre, because of its food-safety certification.
Can you take a stroller into the cellars?
Yes, on request at reception. There is no storage for strollers or wheelchairs, so they go down with you.
Why might a tour swap Veuve Clicquot for another house?
The houses cap visitor numbers, so several listings say another house is offered if Veuve Clicquot is full on your date. One traveller was moved to Moët & Chandon when the house changed its opening days.
When is the harvest?
In 2026 it opened in August: the Comité Champagne set the first picking at Montgueux on 8 August, and most Marne villages opened between 12 and 17 August. The date moves every year with the season.
Can you combine Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon?
Yes. Several days pair them, from Paris or from Reims, with Hautvillers on the way between Épernay and Reims.
How far is Reims Cathedral?
Reims Cathedral is a short drive from the house, and most tours stop there for about 30 minutes. It opens every day from 8 am and entry is free; the towers are a guided visit at EUR 9.
Is the price per person?
Yes, on every tour listed, private ones included. Several private days need two people to book, and the fare covers your party alone.
Does the price include tips?
No listing includes gratuities, and they are optional. Most private days from Paris include bottled water.
